AS6081 is the standard written for independent distributors of electronic parts: how to choose sources, what to document, how to inspect, when to test, and how to handle parts under review. We apply its logic in our own procedures:

We state the wording precisely because supplier-quality engineers read it first: aligned controls, certified management systems, each named for what it is.

AS6171 defines test methods so results are comparable between laboratories; it certifies methods, not companies. When a lot needs it (independent source, high value, safety-related application, unusual part history), samples go to independent laboratories that apply these methods, and we tell you before payment when a lot goes to a laboratory.

Your report is registered with photographs, quantities and lot data. You receive a case reference and the name of the person who owns the case.

SAE AS6081 is the counterfeit-avoidance standard for independent distributors: supplier controls, risk-based inspection of open-market parts, quarantine and reporting. Our controls are aligned with AS6081A; we are not certified to it. Our certified system is ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
AS6171 defines laboratory test methods (visual, X-ray, XRF, decapsulation, electrical and others) so results are comparable; it certifies methods, not companies. We order tests to AS6171A methods through independent laboratories when a lot needs them, and the scope can be agreed with you.
Check three things: the certificate exists in the certification body's or CNCA's public database; the body is accredited (CNAS list; CNAS is an IAF MLA signatory); the scope covers the product or process you are buying.
