What our inspection looks at
| Attribute | What we confirm |
|---|---|
| Marking | Font, position, content and permanence consistent with manufacturer data and known-good references |
| Package and leads | Package dimensions, surface, lead condition and finish against the datasheet |
| Date and lot codes | Codes present, legible and consistent across the reel, tray or tube |
| Packaging | Manufacturer labels, moisture-barrier bags, humidity indicator cards, ESD protection, reel and tray condition |
| Documents | Manufacturer documents and certificates of conformance received with the lot, kept unaltered; chain of custody where available |
| Handling | Moisture-sensitive parts kept sealed or baked and re-sealed according to their level |
When a lot goes to a laboratory
We plan the inspection depth from the type of source, the part family and its history. Laboratory testing is added for parts from independent sources, programmable logic, memory, microcontrollers and power semiconductors, high-value lots, safety-related applications and parts with an unusual history. We tell you before payment when a lot goes to a laboratory, and you may agree the test scope with us.
AS6081 and AS6171: system and methods
| Attribute | SAE AS6081 | SAE AS6171 |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A standard for distributors: how to select sources, document, inspect, escalate and quarantine | A family of laboratory test methods for confirming the authenticity of electronic parts |
| Who it is for | Independent distributors of electronic parts | Test laboratories and the buyers who commission them |
| What "compliant" means | The company runs its purchasing and inspection to the standard; certification is by a third party | The laboratory applies the methods; the standard certifies methods, not companies |
| Typical content | Supplier assessment, risk-based inspection plan, quarantine, reporting, records | Visual, marking permanency, XRF, X-ray, decapsulation, electrical, acoustic microscopy and others, with sampling and risk tiers |
A company can be aligned with AS6081 without being certified to it, and can order AS6171 methods from an independent laboratory without running a laboratory itself. We use the two terms precisely: aligned with AS6081A, not certified to it; AS6171A methods through independent laboratories.
Our process, step by step
- Source discipline first. Manufacturer, then authorised channel, then screened independent sources. The kind of source is stated on the quotation line before you buy.
- Documents with the lot. Manufacturer labels, date and lot codes, certificates of conformance and any chain-of-custody record kept with the lot, unaltered.
- Visual and marking inspection in Shenzhen against manufacturer data and known-good references.
- Packaging and handling checked and preserved: moisture-barrier bags, humidity indicator cards, ESD handling.
- Laboratory tests when the lot needs them: marking-permanence and surface tests, XRF of the lead finish, X-ray of die and bond wires, decapsulation, electrical test.
- Quarantine. Parts that do not pass inspection are segregated, recorded and kept out of shipments.
What you receive with each lot
- The quotation line, stating the source category and the country of origin.
- The manufacturer documents received with the lot, unaltered.
- Commercial invoice and packing list from Wizea Technology Limited, Hong Kong.
Short answers on this topic
How is the authenticity of an electronic component confirmed?
By combining checks: the source category and the documents; inspection of marking, package, leads and packaging against manufacturer data; and laboratory methods (XRF, X-ray, decapsulation, electrical) when the lot needs them. Each method adds evidence to the file.
What is SAE AS6081?
The counterfeit-avoidance standard for independent distributors: source selection, risk-based inspection, quarantine and records. Wizea's controls are aligned with AS6081A; the company is not certified to it.
What is SAE AS6171?
A set of laboratory test methods for electronic parts, designed so results are comparable between labs. It certifies methods, not companies. Wizea orders these tests through independent laboratories when a lot needs them.
Which tests are used, and when?
Visual and marking inspection on every lot; laboratory methods for independent sources, high-value lots, safety-related applications and parts with an unusual history. The test scope can be agreed with you.
How does quarantine work?
Parts that do not pass inspection are segregated, recorded and kept out of shipments.
